National Treasure Armor Replica — Kasuga Taisha Shrine

A faithful reproduction of a National Treasure suit of Japanese armor preserved at Kasuga Taisha Shrine.

This masterpiece represents generations of research and refinement by successive generations of Issui artisans.

Distinguished by its magnificent Take-suzume (Bamboo and Sparrow) ornamental metal fittings and impressive large kuwagata (horn-shaped helmet crest), it is an exceptional example of traditional Japanese armor craftsmanship.

This special edition was created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Issui Workshop, founded in Kyoto in 1925.

ART ARMOR — The Art of Japanese Armor

Rooted in generations of craftsmanship, Issui aspires to elevate traditional Japanese armor into a refined form of artistic expression.

This work reflects the aesthetic sensibility that lies at the heart of that vision. It is expressed through the harmony of its overall form, the beauty of its intricate details, and the exceptional craftsmanship brought together in a single creation.

Every element has been specially crafted, featuring bespoke Take-suzume ornamental metal fittings and meticulous attention to detail throughout.

The lacquered display platform, designed in the traditional style of a ceremonial offering, features an elegant and luxurious combination of black and vermilion urushi lacquer.
